Another New Species of Wildebeest, the Kings Wildebeest! Africa Hunt Lodge allows the opportunity to hunt and harvest the very rare South African King's Wildebeest. The Limpopo Province of South Africa is one of the only destinations in the World to hunt the Kings Wildebeest. The Kings Wildebeest has been in solely breeding herds up until late 2019, and Africa Hunt Lodge was one of the first companies to begin hunting them. There are no seasonal restrictions on hunting the Kings Wildebeest in South Africa, which makes it a suitable trophy year round.
Our hunters typically hunt the Kings African Wildebeest in conjunction with a 7-10 day African Safari. One of our Experienced and Licensed Professional Hunters will be your guide during your Kings Wildebeest Hunt. We typically hunt Kings Wildebeest Safari Style, Spot and Stalk, or by Still Hunting if you are a Bow Hunter. We can accommodate all methods of Hunting for Kings Wildebeest including Rifle, Bow, Black Powder, Crossbow or Handgun. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level.
The Kings Wildebeest which we hunt on our South Africa Concession are the biggest in the World, and Africa Hunt Lodge may be the only destination to hunt Kings Wildebeest. You can expect a 25-28 inch width Kings Wildebeest on average when hunting with Africa Hunt Lodge.
The Kings Wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus), is a large antelope native to eastern and southern Africa. They are a unique color variant of the Blue Wildebeest.
What do King's Wildebeest look like:
Kings wildebeests can either have a dark grown-gray or golden body, marked with dark vertical bands at the front and a saddle of golden or white typically on their flank. They have long golden mane and as well as a golden beard. Both sexes have a pair of curved, ridged horns that curved upward.
Kings Wildebeest Habitat:
Kings wildebeests prefer the dense bushlands, open grasslands, and floodplains of the southern savanna. They often migrate in search of food and water.
Kings Wildebeest Behavior:
Kings wildebeest are very sociable animals, and tend to form large herds that provide protection against predators. They migrate for a very long and harsh period in search of grass and water.
Kings Wildebeest Reproduction:
Breeding typically occurs during the rainy season, and cows will give birth to a single calf after a gestation period of about 9 months. Baby wildebeests are one of the most precocial animals, and are able to stand and run only a couple minutes after birth!
